We FINALLY finished our Gingerbread House Coloring Sheet that we began before Christmas. Students had an Excel template of the house and an instruction sheet--pictured below--and created their house from that. We inserted a gingerbread man picture at the end for the perfect touch!

Our latest project is Wordle. Students created a word cloud using their name and characteristics that described themselves. I think you'll like the results! Click on their teacher's name and watch.

The third graders have been working on a PowerPoint presentation that they saved as a picture slide for a slideshow. The finished slideshows are on their classroom page. Each student created a "Scary Spud." They then saved the picture from the website, pasted it into a paint program, cut just the picture out of the paint program and inserted it into their PowerPoint slide. Then they wrote descriptions about their spud. (Pretty complicated, huh?!)

They learned some neat computer shortcuts along the way:

  • Print Screen - took a picture of their view on the monitor
  • ctrl+v - paste
  • ctrl+x - cut
  • ctrl+s - save

They also played with selecting a background theme and different fonts and font sizes to finish their slide.
